Big Pineapple Farmer's Markets - Saturdays!

Just off the M1 Bruce Highway, taking the Nambour exit, you will find the Big Pineapple. The Big Pineapple was built in 1971 and until recently, has served as a tourist attraction when it was closed. The 16m high pineapple situated on a large plantation was closed for some time during 2009, before it was re-opened for business in 2011.
The markets held on the premises every Saturday from 6:30am to 12:30pm offer plenty of refreshments including fresh Lime Juice and Pine Needle Juice just to name a few. The Traditional German Sausage stal serves delicious hot dogs and the vegetable stalls sell everything you need for the home at very good prices. And the best thing about it all is that it is so FRESH! There is music and a friendly vibe from all the patrons and staff. Great meat stals, wood craft, organic soaps, gourmet breads and pastries, art and an ATM on site.

There is a bus to the Big Pineapple, the 610 from Nambour Station leaves 55 min after the hour, hourly (from 6:55) and has a stop at the Big pineapple. From the Sunshine Plaza, the 610 leaves 46min after the hour starting at 7:46am.

Personally I'm a fussy eater and was introduced to edible flowers for salads, chai tea and seasoned seaweed. Such a nice market to explore. If you have a Saturday morning free, it's definitely a great way to spend the early hours of Saturday.  For more info, check http://friendsofthebigpineapple.com/
The Big Pineapple Markets are one of a few on the coast, major ones being the markets in Caloundra on Fridays, and the markets in Noosa on Sundays.
